To_timestamp and to_date ignore letter case in the input so for example MON, Mon, and mon all accept the same strings. TM suppresses trailing blanks whether or not FM is specified. In PostgreSQL, FM modifies only the next specification, while in Oracle FM affects all subsequent specifications, and repeated FM modifiers toggle fill mode on and off. Table 9.28 shows the modifier patterns for date/time formatting.įM suppresses leading zeroes and trailing blanks that would otherwise be added to make the output of a pattern be fixed-width.
